The role
Develop predictive models and optimization algorithms for commercial buildings. Own the model lifecycle from data exploration and experiments to deployment and monitoring across real environments with noisy sensors, missing observations, different equipment, and changing operating schedules.
You will translate complex operational data into measurable HVAC and ventilation improvements across live building environments.
What you will do
- Build time-series models for energy demand, air quality, and building operating conditions.
- Develop anomaly detection methods for sensor issues, equipment faults, and inefficient operation.
- Combine predictive models with optimization methods to improve HVAC and ventilation decisions.
- Build training and inference pipelines that handle missing data and differences between buildings.
- Validate results against appropriate baselines, accounting for weather, occupancy, and operating schedules.
- Work with software engineers and building specialists to deploy models and improve their performance.
What you will bring
- 4+ years of relevant experience in applied ML, data science, or ML engineering.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, with experience using scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Practical experience with time-series forecasting, statistical modeling, and model evaluation.
- Experience deploying models and monitoring their performance in production.
- Ability to explain technical findings and connect model performance to operational outcomes.
Nice to have
Experience with HVAC, IoT, energy systems, control theory, model predictive control, or reinforcement learning. Familiarity with LLMs and agentic workflows is a plus.
